About the Firm

A firm built around its clients

Practical legal advice, delivered by solicitors who take the time to understand you and what you want to achieve.

Our Story

Two practices, one firm

CSM Solicitors brings together the practices of Courtney Moloney and Dr John Cronin, founder of Anumis Legal in Noosa. Two established practitioners, one firm — with the breadth to act on the commercial, property, family, criminal and estate matters that make up a client’s whole legal life.

The result is a firm able to act across the full breadth of private and commercial life — buying a home, writing a will, structuring or selling a business, resolving a family separation, or answering a criminal charge. Whatever the matter, the approach is the same: listen first, explain clearly, prepare thoroughly, and act decisively.

“It’s easier and cheaper to keep you out of trouble than to get you out of trouble.”

Dr John Cronin

That philosophy runs through everything we do. Wherever possible, we prefer to keep clients ahead of problems — with sound structures, careful agreements and early advice — rather than steer them through disputes that could have been avoided. And when a dispute or charge cannot be avoided, you will find us prepared, direct and firmly in your corner.

Dr John Cronin

Principal

John practises in business, commercial and property law, including property-related family law matters. He came to the law after a long first career — beginning as a design engineer on large-scale equipment and infrastructure projects, consulting to some of Australia’s largest mining, manufacturing and services companies, and working as a financial and investment adviser across business banking, finance and investment. That background is why his advice is commercial as well as legal.

John was admitted in the Supreme Court of Queensland and holds two doctorates — a PhD examining ethical and socially responsible investment, and a PhD in superannuation law — alongside his law degree, Graduate Diplomas in Law and Legal Practice, a Master of Arts in Management, and a Diploma of Financial Services. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a certified commercial mediator registered with the Queensland Law Society.

Courtney Moloney

Director

Courtney Moloney is a Queensland solicitor admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.

Courtney commenced her studies in New Zealand before transferring to the University of Southern Queensland to complete her law degree. While studying, she worked in the legal industry for nine years as a paralegal, with her primary role as a conveyancer, assisting solicitors across a range of jurisdictions including family law, criminal law and domestic violence proceedings.

Upon admission, Courtney commenced practice in family law. She soon found her passion for criminal law and spent years appearing across all criminal courts, representing clients facing both summary and indictable charges. Through this work she developed a strong understanding of the practical overlap between criminal law, domestic violence proceedings and family law — and the serious flow-on consequences that can arise when matters across these jurisdictions are not carefully managed. This prompted her to train and practise across all three areas, so clients can take informed, coordinated steps when proceedings intersect.

Courtney believes in achieving holistic, future-focused outcomes. She prioritises practical solutions designed to minimise court involvement wherever possible, exploring strategic and “outside the box” approaches before litigation.

Damian Moloney

Damian Moloney

Director · Practice Manager

Damian keeps CSM Solicitors running — appointments, files, billing, systems and everything in between. He came to legal practice management after two decades in the electrical and construction industries across New Zealand and Queensland, where he led estimating teams, tendered major commercial projects and owned and ran his own contracting business.

That operational discipline is something clients feel in practice: matters that move, calls that are returned, and a firm that runs on time.
